Our friendly women-only centre in Chester-le-Street offers a wide variety of free and low-cost courses to help you learn and develop new skills. We also offer training to other sectors, organisations and groups; we can deliver bespoke programmes to meet all your needs.

Mindfulness and Meditation - 10 weeks
This is time for you to begin to understand how lifestyle choices can impact on personal health and well being . You will be guided through meditation and self care routines to improve your sense of well being.

Poetry for Pleasure – 10 weeks 
Discover, discus read and share poems on a variety of subjects including love, nature, memory and nonsense!

Women’s Health starting conversations about the stuff that no one mentions. In a supportive environment we will be talking about mental health, the menopause, lady bits! The bladder and bowel

Intro to Massage – 10 weeks 
This course will enable you to understand how massage can benefit you and your family. You will be guided through set routines in a safe and supportive class.

Drum It Up - 8 Weeks
Gain the skills to play drums samba style! Learn skills and techniques to create beats and rhythms and build up a repertoire of tunes.
Monday 3.00pm - 5.00pm
Move on with Maths – 10 weeks
All areas of maths are covered – support is given to work from your own starting point and move on at your own pace.
Tuesday 9.30am - 11.30am
Art for Change – 10 weeks 
During this course you will be guided to explore the impact that art can have in society. You will learn about important movements in Art History and take a look at Feminist Art.

An introduction to Aromatherapy – 10 weeks (at Auckland Community Centre)
This is the course where you will begin to explore the health benefits of using essential oil such as lavender and tea tree in your everyday life. You will learn how to use them safely, how to blend them and how to dilute them in carrier oils.

Aspire 2 Change – 10 weeks (at Auckland Community Centre)
Come along to our outreach session and work in an informal supportive group to build up skills, knowledge and confidence by working towards improving the 5 steps to well being.

Carry on with Sugar Craft Flowers – 10 weeks 
Further develop your creativity, learn the techniques to produce beautiful flowers made from sugar paste. With guidance and support to create your own bouquet. This is a course for those who have already completed an introduction to sugar craft.

All things French – 12 weeks  
This is the course for you if you are looking to extend your knowledge of French culture and language by looking at French music, cheese, history, the patisserie, films and more!

Be a better listener – 10 weeks 
For anyone wanting to explore and improve their communication skills. This course is recommended for anyone wanting to develop as a volunteer or be a part of the supporting sister’s project within Aspire.

Intro to Creative Writing – 8 weeks  
Exercise and develop your imagination and creativity. Build your vocabulary and literacy skills while increasing your confidence. Writing can provide an outlet for your emotions and self expression.

Needle Felting – 10 weeks 
This is your chance to get to grips with the craft of needle felting where you will learn how to create small 3d models and also 2d pictures under the guidance of an experienced, supportive tutor.

This is a new course, which will provide you with the opportunity to take a look at the words that have inspired prose and poetry. Explore the work of some influential authors and discover how literature has changed over time.

Creative Crafts – 10 weeks 
Learn different craft techniques such as modelling, up-cycling and paper crafts and develop your skills to produce high quality decorative items.

Simple and Healthy Cooking – 8 weeks  
Build your confidence in the kitchen with easy, tasty and nutritious meals on a budget. Work together to cook and share a dish each week and explore the health benefits of food and nutrition.

Spring Sugar Craft – 10 weeks  
Develop your creative side learn the techniques to produce cake toppers, made from sugar paste. With guidance and support to learn to create your very own seasonal cake toppers.

An introduction to Child Development – 10 weeks  
Learn the fascinating theories around child development, Explore how the brain develops in children and how this influences their behaviours.

Oh Sew Easy – 10 weeks  
This is a course for those who want to develop their sewing skills! During the course you will complete some small projects using the sewing machine and also hand sewing.

Indian Head Massage – 10 weeks 
This course will introduce you to the history and benefits of Indian Head massage. You will be guided through the procedure to carry out an Indian Head massage safely and will have an understanding of the bones and muscles of the head and neck.

Introduction to Criminology – 10 weeks 
Explore the world of criminology! Try to understand why some people develop criminal behaviour and what type of crimes people commit.

Further look into Criminology – 10 weeks 
This course is for those who have completed an introduction to criminology. During this course you will be delving deeper into the reasons why people turn to crime.

Back to Basics with IT – 10 weeks 
Learn how to explore the internet, become familiar with its uses and benefits and how to be safe on line! Also learn how to use Windows and Office and create and save documents with confidence!

Dance Fit – 8 weeks 
This course is inspired by the tv programme Strictly Come Dancing, but here you will use the steps of the tango waltz amd more to dance your way to fitness.
