Our friendly women-only centre in Chester-le-Street offers a wide variety of free and low-cost courses to help you learn and develop new skills. We also offer training to other sectors, organisations and groups; we can deliver bespoke programmes to meet all your needs.

Mindfulness and Meditation
This is time for you to begin to understand how lifestyle choices can impact on personal health and well being . You will be guided through meditation and self care routines to improve your sense of wellbeing.

Would you like to give you C.V. a makeover? This course will help you decide how to create a C.V. that you will be able to adapt to apply for jobs. It will enable you to work on your interview style and through role play you will gain confidence and become familiar with all of your positive attributes which will support you in your search for a new job.

New Year New Me! It’s the perfect time of year to work on building up your self-confidence, to work on your self esteem and build on your strengths to support your resilience. This course will give you the tools to help with all of this in a supportive environment.

If you have decided that it is the time to work on your physical health and wellbeing then this is the opportunity you have been waiting for! Come along for a gentle walk each week, where you will be able to enjoy fresh air and gentle exercise. Walking is sure to improve both your physical and mental health and wellbeing.

Express Yourself Through Art 
This course will use the work of established artists to inspire your creativity and spur you on to create your very own piece of art using your own choice of media.

Introduction to drumming
Fun, loud and high energy!! Have a go at playing a variety of drums within a group and create some music inspired by Brazilian Carnivals!!

Do you want to improve your understanding of maths? This course will enable you to begin to work towards unravelling the mystery that is numbers!

Sugarcraft Flowers - Auckland Community Room
Further develop your creativity, learn the techniques to produce beautiful flowers made from sugar paste. With guidance and support to create your own bouquet. This is a course for those who have already completed an introduction to sugar craft.

Yoga (RSPH Encourage Physical Activity)
This is your opportunity to have a go at some simple yoga and gain an understanding of how you can incorporate the health benefits into your everyday lives.

This is a brand new course developed to explore the ideas around recycling and reusing fabric items. You will become familiar with the positive effect that reusing and up-cycling personal items will have on our environment as well as giving your clothes a new fresh lease of life.

Dance Fit - Auckland Community Room
This course is inspired by the tv programme Strictly Come Dancing, but here you will use the steps of the tango waltz and more to dance your way to fitness. This class is for those of you who have some dance experience.

Do you know how many units it is safe to drink for a woman? Do you know how alcohol could affect your health? This is the course for you to gain a full understanding of the true effects of alcohol misuse.

This is a new 10 week course, where you will begin to explore the things that contribute to feeling healthy. You will take some time to look at physical and mental health, and what to do to preserve and improve your health.

If you would like to learn some simple massage techniques to use at home to improve your own sense of health and well being then this is the course for you. The tutor will guide you through the simple movements in a safe and supportive environment.

Would you like to know if the Lambton Worm is real and find out about other myths and legends of Chester le Street and Durham? Exploring fascinating facts, weird place names and interesting surnames. Brand New Course This is an opportunity to take some time out for yourself. Spend the session practice mindfulness through colouring in beautiful patterns. You will have the opportunity to explore various colour combinations and complete your chosen patterns using a variety of media.

If you want to gain some practical cooking skills this is the course for you! During the sessions you will work as part of a team to prepare then share a different meal each week while learning about healthy choices and nutrition

Aromatherapy is a holistic healing treatment that uses natural plant extracts to promote health and well being. On this course you will learn about the history of this therapy how to blend and use the oils safely.
