What have we been up to in June?

We began June with a celebration of our amazing volunteers during Volunteers’ Week! We hosted an afternoon tea for all of our amazing volunteers to say a huge thank you for all of their time and energy that they dedicate to Aspire to allow us to continue supporting women in our local area.

We also spread awareness of Carer’s Week which is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who do not think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support. The theme for 2025 was ‘Caring About Equality,’ calling for an equal society where carers are truly valued, recognised and supported. The theme highlighted the inequalities faced by unpaid carers, including greater risk of poverty, social isolation, poor mental and physical health. Far too often, carers of all ages miss out on opportunities in their education, careers, or personal lives, just because of their caring role.

Attached below is information and support available for carers:

We had our June crafty workshop! This month we made decoupage and of course had tea and cake whilst we worked on our masterpieces!

We always have a great time at our Craft 4 All Seasons group making friends and fabulous creations! Look at the fantastic fans that were created!

Our FAB group were joined by Liz Cree from Watsons Undertakers to talk about her job. It was very informative, really interesting and at times funny to learn about such a unique but worthwhile job!

We had our June Extra Social which was 70s themed! We celebrated Kathleen’s special birthday, had lots of lovely food (and a fabulous birthday cake!), and had a trivia quiz! Some of us even dressed up in 70s theme!

Finally, we have been preparing all month for the Chester Le Street In Bloom competition! Our Wild Gardening group have been working hard to make our garden gorgeous and our crèche children gave a helping hand too! Fingers crossed for voting!
