Aspire celebrates International Women’s Day 2026!
International Women’s Day (8th March) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The theme for 2026 was #GiveToGain which emphasised the power of reciprocity and support. When people, organisations, and communities give generously, opportunities and support for women increase. Giving is not a subtraction, it’s intentional multiplication. When women thrive, we all rise.
As individuals, giving support means calling out stereotypes, challenging discrimination, questioning bias, celebrating women’s success, and more. Sharing our knowledge and encouragement with others is also key. Giving our support to help advance gender equality reinforces a sense of connection and purpose. This creates an important ripple effect for spreading impact.
Aspire’s celebrations
We celebrated International Women’s Day firstly through our IWD Brunch! We encouraged our women to bring along a dish to share linked to their heritage or nationality to celebrate our wonderfully diverse Aspire women! We also had a tombola! We were also encouraged to wear purple, white, green or suffragette Aspire to embrace the theme!
We then celebrated International Women’s Day by joining in the celebrations at Beamish Museum!
Our social media campaign was focused on highlighting the invaluable work of organisations in advancing women and raising awareness of them - we highlighted some of our support, learning, and volunteering opportunities available at Aspire:
Thank you to everyone who came along, got involved and celebrated International Women’s Day with us this year!
