What have we been up to in April?
Take a look at all of the things we have been doing at Aspire in April!
April is #StressAwarenessMonth which raises awareness of stress, its effects, and how to manage it. It is led by the Stress Management Society, and empowers individuals and organisations to take practical steps toward healthier, more resilient lives. The theme for 2026 is #BeTheChange which is a call to personal agency, action, and transformation. It encourages you to take one small action today, challenge limiting beliefs, reconnect with others, ask better questions, be present, build new habits, and share your journey.
Stress affects everyone, influencing physical health, mental wellbeing, relationships and daily life. This is why this Stress Awareness Month encourages understanding the causes and impacts of stress, accessing practical tools and resources, opening conversations to reduce stigma, and building stronger connections and supportive communities.
At Aspire we shared information from The Stress Management Society about ways to increase connection with others and reduce stress together:
We also shared some tips from The Stress Management Society about how to reduce your own stress:
We were so grateful to receive a generous donation of Easter eggs from South Pelaw Residents Association, which we distributed to our children in our crèche and to our amazing volunteers!
Our Welcoming All Seasons group celebrated Easter by making chocolate crispy Easter nests! They tasted just as good as they looked!
Aspire were thrilled to be awarded a £10,000 grant from BAM Construction Limited, who were supported by Durham Community Action and Durham County Council, through the application and selection process. The grant will allow Aspire to continue the work supporting women in our local area!
We were so grateful to Halo Project for delivering such an informative trauma-informed domestic abuse training session to our staff and volunteers
Val and Colleen were pleased to meet with Luke Akehurst MP for a visit of our centre and to share information about the vital service we provide for women in our local area! Thank you for taking the time to visit!
